E.Yu. Sergeev. Britain and the February Revolution of 1917 in Russia (Based on the British Archives)

The article deals with the interaction of the political situation in the UK and the development of the revolutionary process in Russia during the first half of 1917. Based upon the UK archives previously unavailable to scholars and memoirs of the direct participants in the events practically unknown to many specialists, the author examines various aspects of the topic in view of political peculiarities, mental factors and socio-cultural characteristics of this most important period in the history of Anglo=Russian relations.

The making of parliamentarism in Middle Ages is analyzed in the article. The local factors are considered, new approaches to the phenomenon are formulated.

The Russian Revolution of 1917 and World History

In February 2017, at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held a "round table" organized by the Center for North American Studies, the Center for Latin American Studies and the Department of History of the Twentieth Century. Speakers discussed the issues of the periodization of the Russian Revolution of 1917, its significance for the history of the 20th century, its perception in the world and its consequences for the development of the country.

"Cold War": Retrospective and Perspective

On October 26, 2016 the round table "The Ending of the Cold War: Discussions, Facts, Lessons." took place at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The round table was organized by the Center for the Study of the Cold War of the Institute of World History. The following questions were discussed: "Did the" cold war "end?"; "The periodization and reasons for the end of the cold war"; "The legacy of the Cold War" and modern international relations". The materials were prepared by the Head of the Center for the Study of the Cold War of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of History. N.I. Yegorova.

A.V. Kiva. The BRICS Countries: Hard Times

The article notes that BRICS was created not by allies, but by partners with different political systems, with coinciding, and not coinciding, and even conflicting interests. At the same time, the author insists: despite Russia's economic weakness, Russia has good relations with China and India, between which there are territorial disputes, and is the link between them and, in fact, a key player in the BRICS, to whom the author prophesies a long a life.

A.V. Zhidkova. Right Populists on the European Political Scene in the Early 21st Century. Evolution of Ideological and Political Views and Attempts to Unite

The article examines the evolution of the ideological and political views of European right-wing populists in the issue of European integration and the creation of the "Europe of Nations and Freedom" within the new composition of the European Parliament by the extreme right-wing factions.

N.P. Tanshina. Anti-Russian Sentiments in France during the July Monarchy (1830-1848)

The author considers the growth of anti-Russian sentiments in France during the reign of Louis=Philippe of Orleans. It was associated, in particular, with the Polish uprising and France's position on the Eastern question.

G.V. Tsypkin. Russian Medics in Ethiopia. Beginning of the Relations between Two Countries

The article concerns the reasons of increasing Russian interests in Ethiopia in the last decades of XIX century. The most important event on the eve of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1897 was the activities of Medical Corps of Russian Red Cross in Ethiopia that was sent to Ethiopia in order to provide medical assistance to the soldiers wounded during Italo=Ethiopian War in 1895-1896.

M.V. Bibikov. New Monument of Athonian Historiography «Athonias» (1848–1865) by Jacobus Neaskytiotes

This is the first introduction into our humanities the newly found in the manuscripts of the archives of Mt. Athos the fundamental History of Athos. Close connection of the creation of the analised text with Russian St. Panteleemon monastery is advanced. There is presented the research of all found and known up to date versions of the «Athonias» by Jacobus Neaskytiotes, the athonite historiographer of the 19th century.

In the essay is created a historical portrait of the famous Russian Germanist, Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation, a member of the Council of the Center for German Historical Studies of the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Joint Commission for the Study of the Modern History of Russian-German Relations, a member of the editorial board of the journal “Modern and Contemporary History”, Council of the journal “Zeitschrift für Geschichte” (Germany), a full member of the New York Academy of Sciences (USA), Professor of the Lipetsk State Pedagogical University, Professor of History Alexander Ivanovich Boroznyak (1933-2015).

The article is devoted to the political biography and the reformist activities of the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who led the country in 1999-2013.
