V.V. Sogrin. The Russian Revolution of 1917 and the Vicissitudes of World History

The author evaluates the historical place of the Russian revolution of 1917 and examines its impact on the course of world history. The focus is on the conflict of real socialism and liberal capitalism. At the end the author states that the idea of social justice encased in the experience of the Russian revolution has not lost its influence either in Russia or in the world as a whole.

The article is devoted to history of German reunification: the situation in the GDR in the last year of its existence. The authors noted domestic and international factors, determines the acceleration of the process of reunification of Germany, the restructuring in the USSR in solving the German question.

R.V. Dolgilevich. Soviet Diplomacy and the Arrangement on the Quadrilateral Negotiations on West Berlin (March, 1969 – March, 1970)

The article attempts to clarify the role of Soviet diplomacy in reaching the arrangement on quadrilateral negotiations on West Berlin and to show what tasks it set itself in these negotiations. The chronological scope of this article - March 1969 - March 1970, the period from the completion of the "Third Berlin crisis" to the start of negotiations between representatives of the USSR, the US, Britain and France on the West Berlin March 26, 1970. The author proves that the beginning of the quadrilateral negotiations on West Berlin was a notable step forward towards the consolidation of peace in Europe.

The article examines the documents of military, diplomatic and intelligence agencies from the US archives, archives of the UK and France, which contain analysis of the role of the USSR in World War II and the state of Soviet society in the period. The author studies also documents of the Archive of Russian foreign policy, which assess the attitudes and plans of the Western allies concerning the Soviet Union.

The article analyzes the book of Swiss politician Guy Mettan The West vs Russia – a thousand year long war: russophobia from Charlemange to the Ukrainian Crisis”. In Western literature for centuries mainstream anti-Russian reigns supreme. Mettan, the article said, not so much wanted to "defend" and "justify" Russia, as to present it to another, other than the established in the West view at it.

In the essay on the basis of little-known sources and the literature the author describes the Gauleiter of Franconia (Northern Bavaria), the publisher and editor of the Nazi anti-Semitic weekly newspaper "Strümer" Julius Streicher - offender, was executed by the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal. Streicher, like anyone else, embodies the misanthropic essence of Nazism, xenophobia and brutal, racial- biological anti-Semitism.
