The article is devoted to a small episode of the Great French Revolution - the case of the Marquis de Favras, who wanted to take out from Paris Louis XVI and thereby save his life and the role in the story of Comte de Provence, the future Louis XVIII.

The article deals with the debate about the situation of the Catholic Church in the United States in the early postwar years. It is noted that the controversy between the Catholic and Protestant intellectuals often turned into the usual polemic, but in the end, Catholics and Protestants were able to establish modus vivendi.

V.V. Sogrin. Why Russia and the United States Do Not Understand Each Other

The author entering in the discussion with the American researcher A. Stent examines Russian-American relations of 1990-es – 2010-es. The main cause of conflict between the two powers he sees in fact that Washington accepts Moscow only as a client of it’s imperial leadership. Russia does not accept such role strongly holding to sovereign foreign policy. USA on their part don’t understand the obstinacy of the country defeated as they believe in the cold war.

I.A. Sokov. Harperism – The New Phenomenon in the Political Culture of the Conyemporary Canada

The article is dedicated to the new phenomenon in the political culture of Canada in recent years which is called harperism. The author confirmed that harperism represents itself the mix of F. Hayek’s neoliberalism ideology, traditional conservatism of E. Burke and the political practice of American globalism. The degree of harperism’ influence on the life of Canada is made clear.

The essay describes the fate of the Grand Admiral Karl Dönitz (1891-1980), which, according to Hitler's will, was the last head of the Third Reich. Despite the importance of Dönitz in the history of Nazi Germany, his identity has not been studied in such detail by historians as a person other Nazi leaders.
