The author explores the anatomy of the socio-political conflict in August 1980 in Poland under the auspices of the "Solidarity" movement. On the basis of sociological research the author analyzes the modern East European reality, formed during 35 years of early capitalism.

Yu.A. Borisyonok. The Belarusian Territory between Poland and Russia - from Partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth until the End of World War II (1772-1945)

Structuring "a big border zone" in the Belarusian territory continued more than 150 years (1772 – 1945), and this process conjoined in various combinations diplomatic, ethnopolitical and in the final stage state-building factors. The significant contribution to permission of eternal dispute about conterminal space between Poland and Russia was brought by crossing at once of several reformatory tendencies (transformations of the authorities of imperial Russia, essential changes at the level of national life, indigenization and other innovations of Bolsheviks).

The author considers socio-political and historiographic value of the Russian-German manual "Russia – Germany. Milestones of common history in collective memory. Volume 3. The XX century". This is one of the first in Europe and unique in the world practice the common textbook, prepared at the bilateral level by the leading Russian and German historians, in which a consolidated assessment of the most important milestones of Russian-German relations in the 20 century is offered.

The article deals with domestic historiography of the Netherlands in a chronological perspective. The author analyzes the reasons for its theme and the insufficient attention of Russian historians to the history of the Netherlands, the sources of which are well represented in the national archives.

The article deals with the life of the French Queen Catherine de Medici - wife of Henry II, the mother of three kings - Francis II, Charles IX and Henry III. According to the author, Catherine de Medici was not ready for the solution of political problems in the conditions of religious wars, while trying to solve them in favor of her sons.

E.V. Sirotkina. Foreign Minister of Austria-Hungary Aehrenthal and Bosnian Crisis of 1908-1909

The article notes that after the Bosnian crisis of 1908-1909., in which Russia has suffered a diplomatic defeat, its relations with Austria-Hungary had been completely undermined. Like after the Crimean War, Russia was holding a deep resentment and eventually spurned Austria-Hungary, which was one of the reasons for the First World War.

V.O. Zverev. (Omsk). Espionage of the German Colonists in Russia (1904-1914): Fiction or Reality?

The author reflects over questions, whether there were German immigrants in Russia the German military spies and what danger was constituted by their numerous colonies for external safety of Russia.

He comes to the conclusion that some evidence pointing to the involvement of German colonists to intelligence activities in favor of Germany is not sufficient to charge the Germans living in Russia in the military espionage.
