The article is devoted to impact of the energy crisis of 19731974 on the US-EEC relations. The author reveals complicated process of narrowing differences among allies, and comes to the conclusion on a salutary effect of the energy crisis in the long run, so far as it induced cooperation among the Western countries.

The author examines the image of the First Russian revolution that was being constructed by the so-called gentlemen-socialists - William Walling, Arthur Bullard, Kellogg Durland and Ernest Poole within the American radical discourse concerning the prospects of the Russian modernization process.

V.G.Burov. Russia and East. The New Book of Academician T.L.Titarenko

In the article the place and the role of Russia in the modern world, its relationship with the Asian partners - India, the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea are considered. The main attention is given to the analysis of the condition and prospects of cooperation with the People's Republic of China. The ideology of the Chinese reforms, their methodological aspects is in detail shined. A problem of self-identification of Russia as Euroasian power is considered. In this regard the eurocentrism approach in the foreign policy, inherent in a considerable part of the Russian political elite is exposed to criticism. A number of practical offers of rather Asian vector of foreign policy of Russia, development of economic cooperation of the Russian Far East with the People's Republic of China is offered.

A.S.Balezin. General History of Africa UNESCO the First Fundamental Collective Look from Africa on the History of the Black Continent

The author describes the eight-volume edition on stories of Africa, which was published in 1981-1993, written by mainly African scientists, in a co-authorship with the white colleagues, reflecting their view on history of the continent and its place in world-wide and historical process.

M.Yu. Myagkov. Antagonism of Strategy: Red Army and Wehrmacht in 1942

In the documentary essay are considered the events of spring - autumn 1942 on the Soviet-German front, the plans of Germany on return of a strategic initiative and final defeat of the USSR, the measures undertaken by the management of Red Army for achievement of a final change in war and its fatal mistakes, predetermined Wehrmacht break to Volga are analyzed. The assessment to little-known operations for the general course of opposition is given, on the basis of new documents the motives of key solutions of the Soviet and German command, influence on plans of the parties of geopolitical factors are analyzed.

B.L. Khavkin. Resistance in the Wehrmacht on the East Front and General H. von Treskow

In the latest German historiography discussion about a role of the Generalmajor of Wehrmacht H. von Tresckow (1901-1944) in anti-Hitlerite Resistance was developed. The contradiction of Tresckow was in the constant conflict to his obligations to the country and the army, which part he was. Tresckow was the opponent of a mode which he had to serve. On the basis of sources and literatures being stored in Federal Military Archive Germany, in the Memorial of German Resistance in Berlin, at Institute of modern history in Munich and in other places the author recreates an ambiguous image of Tresckow.

P.P. Tcherkasov. Dynastic Diplomacy in the Russian-French Relations of 1856-1870

V.P. Kazantsev. The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, and Administrative Development of the Far East in the Early Twentieth Century

The results of the Russo-Japanese war changed the geopolitical situation and contributed to the further growth of the influence of Japan and America in the Asia-Pacific region. For the formation of the effective mechanism of counteracting this process and the protection of their interests the government of the Russian Empire in 1907 began to administrative-territorial reorganization of the Far East. One of the aspects of it was founded in 1909 the Kamchatka region.

K.A. Myklebost Fridtjof Nansen, Roald Amundsen and Russian North (1890 1930)

In the article the cooperation between the Norwegian polar researchers Fridtjof Nansen(18611930) and Roald Amundsen (18721928) and their Russian colleagues from 1890 to 1930 is considered. The relations of the Norwegian scientists with the Russian and then the Soviet colleagues are analyzed. Since 1890 Fridtjof Nansen conducted extensive correspondence with Russian colleagues. Roald Amundsen was known in Russia after expedition on the Northwest sea way, but it had no so extensive personal contacts to Russian polar researchers, as Fridtjof Nansen.
