M.A.Gareyev. The Greatest Battle of the Second World War

In the article in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad the president of Academy of military sciences, the doctor historical sciences and doctors of military sciences the general M.A.Gareyev analyzes the historical value of this greatest battle of the Second World War which began fundamental change in the Second World War in favor of an anti-Hitlerite coalition.

The author emphasizes that interests of a historical science, cooperation development between the people, demand to release military history from spirit of confrontation, to subordinate researches to interests of deep, truthful and unbiased interpretation of history of the Second World War, including Battle of Stalingrad.

A.S.Stykalin. «The Prague Spring» 1968 and Position of the Leadership of Hungary

In the article evolution of the relation of the Hungarian leader Y. Kadar to the Prague spring of 1968 and the reforms occurring in Czechoslovakia under the badge of the "socialism with a human face" is considered. Kadar supported in the beginning Czechoslovak reformers, perceiving them as the allies in updating of a real socialism. However since the end of June he reconsidered the relation to the events in the neighboring country, having seen that the ruling communist party loses control over a course of events. In August after long fluctuations the leader of VSRP agreed to participation of the Hungarian army in a collective action of the countries - participants of the Warsaw pact concerning Czechoslovakia. Kadar's compromise contrary to his hopes didn't help him to rescue economic reforms in own country.

N.P. Tanshina. Russian View on the French Revolution of 1848

The article is based on documents from the archive of foreign policy of Russia entered by the author into a scientific turn for the first time. These are reports of the Russian Charge d'Affaires in France N.D. Kiselev who has become the witness of the French revolution of 1848.

Academician Yu.A. Polyakov. 1812: War Fair, Victorious

Academician Yu.A. Polyakov reflects on events of Patriotic war of 1812 as a historian. He gives special attention to the analysis of strategy of the French and Russian commands during hostilities and comes to a conclusion that Waterloo became possible thanks to Battle of Borodino.

A.A. Sagomonyan. War of 1812 by eyes of the Spanish officer

In the article is presented the view on the Patriotic war of 1812 of the Spanish officer who has appeared as a part of Napoleonic army. Many questions concerning participation in war of the Spanish parts are considered. The main source is the recently published in Madrid "Diary" of captain R. De Llanza which, as well as his many compatriots, came over to Russian party.

In the article based on the wide range of sources the episode from history of the Patriotic war of 1812 is considered when Ashmyany were attacked by the Seslavin`s guerrilla group shortly before Napoleon's arrival.

Difficult the 60th … Economy, Policy, Culture of the USSR and Eastern Europe

In the report on the conference taken place at the Institute of Slavic studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in April, 2012 and devoted to problems of liberalization of Soviet by public-political and economic model in the 1960th years, are presented scientists reports in which various aspects of Soviet "thaw", its influence on liberalization process in the countries of socialist camp and system of the international relations are considered.

E.A. Susloparova. James Maxton (1885-1946) – the Leader of the Independent Labour Party of Great Britain

The essay is devoted to life and activity of the representative of the left wing of the British social democracy of intermilitary years James Maxton (1885-1946). The author considers, what factors affected formation of views of Maxton, traces his parliamentary, propaganda activity. It is analyzed that was the main reasons for rigid opposition of Maxton and official heads of the Labour party, ended with his exit from ranks of this organization in 1932.

T.N. Kandaurova. View of Europeans on Russian Military Settlements of the 19th century

In the article based on the notes of travelers, military experts and researchers, materials of the European press is analysed the perception by foreigners of the Russian military settlements of the first half of the 19th century, the palette of their estimates is shown, and also transformation of estimated characteristics in the temporary relation is presented.
